In 1932 Howard Hughes founded Hughes Aircraft famous for building the H-1 Racer among other aircraft which revolutionized the Aerospace industry. Through years of mergers and acquisitions, Hughes Aircraft sold bits and pieces of its product lines to companies like Raytheon, General Motors, Boeing (Space), and other major Aerospace corporations that are responsible for Air Traffic Control systems as well as Satellites manufacturing. Hughes is now a division of The Boeing Company.
Hughes developed their Supplier Quality Requirements Manual based on Aerospace Standard AS9100 to communicate quality requirements and expectations that will assure compliance to Hughes customer requirements.
