Technical Information on Nickel 718 per AMS 5597
Nickel 718 per AMS 5597, Also known as Inconel 718, is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium alloy also containing significant amounts of iron, niobium and molybdenum along with lesser amounts of aluminum and titanium.
It combines corrosion resistance and high strength with outstanding weldability, including resistance to post-weld cracking. The alloy has excellent creep-rupture strength at temperatures to 1300°F (700°C)
The AMS 5597 specification covers a corrosion and heat resistant Nickel 718 in the form of sheet, strip, and plate. AMS 5597 products have been used typically for parts, such as cases and ducts, requiring high strength at cryogenic temperatures
