6Al‐2Sn‐2Zr‐2Mo‐2Cr / Ti-6-2-2-2-2 Titanium

Ti-6-2-2-2-2 is another way to refer to the titanium alloy Ti-6Al-2Sn-2Mo-2Cr. The “Ti-6-2-2-2-2” designation is a shorthand way of indicating the composition of the alloy, with the numbers representing the percentage of each element present. In this case, the alloy consists of 6% aluminum, 2% tin, 2% molybdenum, and 2% chromium, in addition to the titanium base. This alloy is known for its high strength, good corrosion resistance, and high temperature stability, and is commonly used in aerospace and other high-stress applications.

Applications of 6Al‐2Sn‐2Zr‐2Mo‐2Cr / Ti-6-2-2-2-2

Next generation demanding aerospace systems requirements are pushing the titanium alloy performance needs beyond the upper limits of the workhorse alloy Ti 6Al-4V (Ti 6-4), necessitating the use of advanced solutions. The Ti-6-2-2-2-2 alloy was originally formulated by RMI Titanium Company in the early 1970s for elevated temperature applications in gas turbine engines.
