HASTELLOY X PER AMS 5536
Hastelloy X per AMS 5536 Sheet & Plate
AMS 5536 is the specification for Hastelloy X (sometimes known as Alloy X) in the Sheet, Coil, and Plate forms. Hastelloy X is a nickel-chromium-iron-molybdenum alloy with outstanding strength and oxidation resistance at temperatures to 2200°F (1200°C). Because of the matrix stiffening provided by the molybdenum content, the resulting finish is in high strength with a solid-solution alloy having good fabrication characteristics. In most cases, Hastelloy X has wide use in gas turbine engines for combustion zone components such as transition ducts, combustor cans, spray bars and flame holders as well as in afterburners, tailpipes and cabin heaters. Furnace rolls of this alloy were still in good condition after operating for 8,700 hours at 2150°F (1177°C). With this effectiveness, at such a high temperature, for this long of a period of time, Alloy X is also extremely useful in gas turbines, industrial furnaces, heat-treating equipment and nuclear engineering.
