What Is MSRR 7158?
MSRR 7158 describes the requirements set by Rolls-Royce regarding the Hastelloy X material to be used in the aerospace fabrication industry. This includes the necessary content present in the material, the heat treatment process, and the mechanical test necessary to ascertain whether the batch meets the requirements or not.
The aim is to ensure reliable performance under harsh conditions, including high temperature and high stress, as might be encountered in the combustion areas of engines, the exhaust system, and structural parts used in high-temperature applications.
Applications of HASTELLOY X per MSRR 7158
Hastelloy X can be used in the construction of heat exchangers for power plants and other energy production facilities. Its good corrosion resistance makes it well-suited for use in environments where heat exchangers are exposed to corrosive gases or liquids.
Hastelloy X can also be used in the construction of boiler components, such as tubes and headers, that are exposed to high temperatures and corrosive environments.
The high temperature strength of Hastelloy X makes it well-suited for use in the construction of turbine blades for gas turbine engines.
Hastelloy X can be used in the construction of fuel cells, which are devices that convert chemical energy into electricity. Its corrosion resistance makes it well-suited for use in fuel cells that are exposed to corrosive gases.
Hastelloy X can be used in the construction of jet engine components, such as blades and vanes, that are exposed to high temperatures and corrosive environments.
