Nickel 625 per AMS 5879
Nickel 625 (UNS N06625) per AMS 5879 is a nickel-base alloy with chromium, molybdenum, and niobium. It has been formulated as a fatigue-resistance, bellows-quality alloy, which is a specific modification of Inconel 625. The chemical composition, melting, and processing of the alloy are carefully controlled to yield a sheet product with superior resistance to low-cycle and thermal fatigue at temperatures up to 1200°F (650°C).
The specification is used in a wide range of applications in which flexibility, oxidation resistance, and mechanical stability under cyclic thermal stress are critical, particularly in aerospace exhaust components and industrial expansion joints.
What is Inconel 625 ?
Nickel 625 (UNS N06625) is an austenitic nickel-base superalloy possessing excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion over a broad range of corrosive conditions, including jet engine environments and in many other aerospace and chemical process applications. Nickel 625 has outstanding strength and toughness at temperatures ranging from cryogenic temperature to 2000°F (1093°C). This alloy also has exceptional fatigue resistance. Nickel 625 derives its strength from the solid solution strengthening effects of molybdenum and columbium on the nickel-chromium matrix.
