AMS 5714 - Nickel Alloy 722 Bars, Forgings & Rings
AMS 5714 has specified Nickel Alloy 722 (Inconel 722) for bars, forgings, and rings in the precipitation hardenable condition. This material has assured high mechanical performance, high corrosion resistance, as well as good heat stability. This material is particularly useful for parts in jet engines, etc.
Overview of AMS 5714
Nickel 722 is another variant of nickel chromium alloy, but its composition is further enhanced by the addition of titanium and aluminum compounds. This material exhibits high-strength properties coupled with high oxidation resistance in temperatures higher than 1300 F (704 C). By heat treatment, this alloy has the potential to acquire microstructure properties resistant to creep, fatigue, and corrosion.
APPLICATIONS OF NICKEL 722
NICKEL 722 is used for gas turbine structural components, such as turbine section frames. The alloy is useful where oxidation resistance and high temperature strength are of major importance.
