INVAR 36
NILO alloy 36 (UNS K93600 & K93601/W. Nr. 1.3912), also known as INVAR 36, is a binary nickel-iron alloy containing 36% nickel. Its low thermal expansion coefficient makes it useful for a wide range of applications, including tooling for aerospace composites, standards of length, measuring tapes and gauges, precision components, and pendulum and thermostat rods. It is also used as the low expansion component in bi-metal strip, in cryogenic engineering, and for laser components. The alloy is also known for its high strength and corrosion resistance, which makes it suitable for use in demanding environments. Additionally, due to its low thermal expansion coefficient, it is used in the manufacturing of precision instruments such as clocks, watches, scientific instruments, and electronic devices.
Product Forms & Size Range
INVAR 36 Round Bar diameters range from 0.125″ to 8.00″ diameter.
INVAR 36 Plate Thickness ranges from 0.1875″ to 5.00″ Thick.
INVAR 36 Sheet Thickness ranges from 0.015″ to 0.1560″ Thick. Some of our Coil stock can be converted to thinner material on demand
Applications of INVAR 36
INVAR 36 is highly resistant to corrosion, making it suitable for use in aerospace applications such as aircraft and spacecraft.
NILO 36 is used in the electrical and electronic industry as a substrate material for multilayer ceramic capacitors, lead frames for semiconductors, and as a material for microwave devices.
NILO 36 is also used in cryogenic applications as it maintains its dimensional stability at low temperatures.
NILO 36 is used in nuclear industry as well, for applications such as fuel rod cladding, and control rod drive mechanisms.
NILO 36 is used in the optical industry, particularly for the manufacturing of mirrors and lenses, due to its low coefficient of thermal expansion.
