QQ‑N‑286 Specification for MONEL K‑500
QQ-N-286 is a U.S. Federal Specification for MONEL K-500 (UNS N05500) in various product forms including bars, plates, sheets, strips, wires, and forgings. This specification ensures the quality, mechanical properties, and resistance to corrosion of nickel copper alloys in harsh engineering and marine environments.
MONEL K-500, which is specified in QQ-N-286, is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-copper alloy with the corrosion resistance of MONEL 400 and increased properties of strength and hardness. It is nonmagnetic below -150°F (-101°C) and possesses low magnetic permeability, making it suitable for use in industry and the Navy.
What is MONEL K-500 ?
MONEL K-500 is a nickel-copper alloy that offers the superior corrosion resistance of MONEL 400, in addition to the strength and hardness of age hardening. The alloy provides superior mechanical properties with no sacrifice in resistance to corrosive environments, such as those found in the aerospace, marine, oil and gas, and chemical industries.
Applications of QQ‑N‑286 MONEL K‑500
QQ-N-286 is used for pump shafts, oil-well tools and instruments, doctor blades and scrapers, springs, valve trim, fasteners and marine propeller shafts.
