AMS 5620 - 420 Stainless Steel Bars and Forgings Specification
AMS 5620 is an specification by the Society of Automotive Engineers. It is applicable to bars and forgings of 420 Stainless Steel in the hardened and tempered condition. Fighter Jet Metals provides AMS 5620 420 Stainless Steel, which is utilized in the manufacture of aircraft, defense, and other high-strength components.
This is a martensitic stainless steel with superior mechanical properties compared to 410 Stainless Steel. This is because the composition has a high percentage of carbon. The 420 Stainless Steel according to the AMS 5620 specification is magnetic in the annealed and hardened conditions. However, it is not used in the annealed condition. The best condition for the material is the fully hardened and tempered state.
