AMS 5547 Stainless Steel
AMS 5547 is the spec that governs the use of AM 355 stainless steel sheet and strip when in a solution heat-treated state. This alloy combines chromium, nickel, and molybdenum to produce a robust combination of high strength, corrosion resistance, and high-temperature properties.
The spec describes the chemical composition, the heat treatment state, and the mechanical properties that the sheet and strip products must exhibit in order to be used in the demanding environment of the aerospace industry.
AMS 5547 Typical Applications
AMS 5547 AM 355 sheet and strip are commonly used in aerospace and high-performance equipment.
Typical applications include:
• Gas turbine components
• Aerospace structural parts
• Compressor components
• High strength sheet metal parts
• Corrosion-resistant aerospace hardware
What is AM 355 Stainless Steel ?
AM 355 (SOMETIMES KNOWN AS PYROMET 355) is a chromium nickel molybdenum stainless steel. It is a heat treatable austenitic / martensitic alloy (depending on the heat treatment). The properties of AM355 are that of strength of a heat treatable martensitic grades with the corrosion resistance of some of the chromium nickel austenitic grades.
