AMS 5743 Stainless Steel Bars and Forgings
AMS 5743 includes the corrosion resistance and heat resisting stainless steel alloys covered by AM 355, in the form of bars, forgings, and forging stock. The material is supplied in the solution heat treated, subzero cooled, equalized, and over-tempered condition to provide specific properties.
This specification provides the requirements for the chemical composition, heat treating, mechanical properties, and quality standards for bar and forging products.
AMS 5743 Typical Applications
AMS 5743 AM 355 bar and forging material is widely used in aerospace and high-performance mechanical systems.
Typical applications include:
• Gas turbine compressor components
• Motor and drive shafts
• Structural aerospace hardware
• High-strength machined components
• Aerospace engine components
What is AM 355 Stainless Steel ?
AM 355 (SOMETIMES KNOWN AS PYROMET 355) is a chromium nickel molybdenum stainless steel. It is a heat treatable austenitic / martensitic alloy (depending on the heat treatment). The properties of AM355 are that of strength of a heat treatable martensitic grades with the corrosion resistance of some of the chromium nickel austenitic grades.
