PH13-8Mo Stainless Steel per ST0160LB0013
ST0160LB0013 is Boeing/Rockwell’s specification for PH13-8Mo stainless steel (UNS S13800), which is a martensitic precipitation hardenable alloy. This steel is used for its high strength, hardness, toughness, and resistance to corrosion. It is used in aircraft structures, landing gear, fasteners, and aircraft engine parts.
The precipitation hardening of martensitic steel allows control of its strength and ductility through control of the aging temperature. Unlike 17-4PH, PH13-8Mo achieves its desired strength and toughness in one low-temperature treatment between 950°F and 1150°F (510-620°C).
