ASTM B564
ASTM B564 is the Standard Specification for Nickel Alloy Forgings. It covers forgings of nickel and nickel-base alloys in a range of grades — including Inconel 625 (UNS N06625), Inconel 718 (UNS N07718), Hastelloy C-276 (UNS N10276), Monel 400 (UNS N04400), and others — for aerospace, chemical processing, marine, and high-temperature applications.
ASTM B564 defines chemical composition, mechanical property requirements, testing, and certification for nickel alloy forgings used in flanges, fittings, valves, and other pressure-containing components in corrosive and high-temperature service.
ASTM B564 covers multiple nickel alloy grades; the applicable grade is identified by UNS designation. Forgings are tested in the annealed condition (or solution annealed + aged for precipitation-hardening grades). Tensile testing, hardness, and chemical analysis are required. Mechanical properties vary by grade and heat treatment per specification tables.
