INCONEL 722 - Nickel-Chromium Alloy Specification
Nickel 722 is a nickel-chromium alloy strengthened by the addition titanium and aluminum. The alloy is age-hardenable by heat treatment. It also has the capacity to remain effective at extremely high temperatures. Inconel 722 can withstand the stress caused by several types of acids, which has made it a common metal in the chemical industry.
Composition and Strength
Nickel 722 is an alloy whose properties are achieved by the process of precipitation hardening heat treatment, whose ability to function well even in high-temperature environments makes it stand out.
It Provides :
- Excellent tensile and fatigue strength
- High oxidation resistance up to 1500°F (815°C)
- Strong corrosion resistance to acids and chlorides
- Superior stability under cyclic stress
APPLICATIONS OF NICKEL 722
NICKEL 722 is used for gas turbine structural components, such as turbine section frames. The alloy is useful where oxidation resistance and high temperature strength are of major importance.
