AMS 6521 Maraging C300 Steel
AMS 6521 describes a premium aerospace alloy that is C300 maraging steel in the form of sheets, strips, and plates. It is melted using the consumable electrode process and then treated with a solution heat treatment process to provide ultra-high purity as well as stable and high-performance mechanical properties.
Chemical composition, mechanical properties, and quality requirements are given for aerospace-grade C300 maraging steel.
Typical Applications of AMS 6521
AMS 6521 C300 maraging steel is used in industries requiring exceptional strength, toughness, and precision:
• Aerospace structural and landing gear components
• Defense hardware and missile components
• Tooling and die equipment
• Transmission shafts and high-performance mechanical components
• Motorsport and light aircraft structural parts
What is C300 Maraging Steel ?
C300 maraging steel is a nickel-cobalt maraging alloy, where cobalt acts as the primary strengthening element. These alloys develop their strength through aging heat treatment, providing very high strength while maintaining excellent toughness, dimensional stability, and machinability in the annealed condition.
