NITRONIC 60
Nitronic 60 is a high manganese, high nitrogen austenitic stainless steel melted as AOD melt type with higher pitting resistance than 316L stainless. This alloy is hardenable to high strength levels through cold working. It has excellent oxidation resistance and can be used at high temperatures upwards of 1800oF. Typical applications include pump components and roller bearings.
Applications of NITRONIC 60
Thanks to its combination of wear resistance, galling resistance, and corrosion performance, NITRONIC 60 is commonly used in:
- Pump components and pump shafts
- Roller bearings and bearing cages
- Valves and valve stems
- Fasteners and threaded components
- Industrial mechanical assemblies
Material Properties
Important performance characteristics of NITRONIC60 stainless steel include:
- Outstanding galling and wear resistance
- Higher pitting corrosion resistance than 316L stainless steel
- High strength achievable through cold working
- Excellent oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures
- Service capability up to approximately 1800°F (982°C)
