5Al-2.5Sn Titanium per AMS 4910
AMS 4910 includes Ti-5Al-2.5Sn titanium alloy in annealed sheet, strip, and plate products. It is an important member of the alpha titanium structural materials group. It is used extensively in aircraft structures where weight is critical, resistance to corrosion is important, and performance at higher temperatures is required.
With 5 percent aluminum and 2.5 percent tin content, it has good strength without sacrificing the low weight and resistance to corrosion of titanium. Ti-5Al-2.5Sn alloy specified to AMS 4910 has moderate strength, good weldability, and formability to build structural aircraft parts.
What is 5Al-2.5Sn & ELI Titanium ?
5Al-2.5Sn is an alloy made up of 5% aluminum and 2.5% tin. It is a high-strength, corrosion-resistant alloy that is commonly used in the aerospace and defense industries. Grade 6 Ti-5Al-2.5Sn alloy has high service temperature of 480°C (896°F), medium strength, and excellent weldability and fabricability. This alloy has good oxidation resistance and microstructure stability; however it is not heat-treatable.
