AMS 4981 - 6Al-2Sn-4Zr-6Mo Titanium Bars, Wire, and Forgings
The AMS 4981 is a titanium spec for the Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-6Mo alloy (Ti6246) that is available in bar, wire, and forging forms. It is usually furnished in a solution treated and precipitation treated condition. This titanium alloy was designed for high-performance aerospace applications. It has high strength, excellent fatigue resistance, high fracture toughness, and good elevated temperature properties.
AMS 4981 is an alpha beta titanium family of alloys, providing a strong balance of strength and ductility. When compared with other titanium alloys like Ti-6Al-4V, it provides increased strength in larger cross-sections, making it particularly well-suited for heavily loaded components in aerospace structures.
