AMS 5844 - MP35N Cobalt-Nickel Alloy
MP35N, as specified in AMS 5844, is a nickel-cobalt-chromium alloy bar with the highest tensile properties, non-magnetic properties, and superior corrosion resistance. It is an alloy with superior ductility and resistance to stress corrosion cracking and crevice corrosion.
It is usually work-hardened and aged to attain tensile properties in the range of 260 to 300 ksi. This is the top-grade alloy with superior properties in harsh environments. The AMS 5844 bars are usually heat-treated to the AMS 5845 condition, which is a standard widely accepted in the aerospace industry, including the Orion spacecraft program.
Applications of AMS 5844 MP35N
MP35N per AMS 5844 is used in industries where strength, corrosion resistance, and reliability are critical:
- Aerospace fasteners and structural components
- Petrochemical equipment
- Racing engines and high-performance automotive applications
- Submersibles and marine equipment
- Any application requiring high strength and resistance to harsh environments
Its combination of work-strengthening and aging ensures it maintains excellent performance in both extreme mechanical and corrosive conditions.
What is MP35N ?
MP35N alloy, which is also known by UNS R30035, is a super alloy consisting of nickel, cobalt, chromium, and molybdenum. It is particularly valued for its high strength, superior corrosion resistance, toughness, and biocompatibility. The properties are aligned in a manner that makes it a good alloy for use in various industries.
