Nickel 201 - Low Carbon Nickel Alloy (UNS N02201)
Essentially, it is like Nickel 200, only with a reduced carbon footprint. The result is an alloy that remains strong and ductile even in conditions of extreme heat. By keeping the level of carbon at less than 0.02%, Nickel 201 is able to prevent embrittlement and intergranular attack, which is exactly why it is our number one choice for applications that operate at higher than 600°F (315°C).
As a commercially pure wrought alloy, Nickel 201 offers excellent corrosion resistance properties, as well as excellent thermal and electrical conductivity and mechanical properties in oxidizing and reducing conditions.
Properties of Nickel 201
- Composition: Nickel (99.5% min), Carbon (0.02% max), Iron (0.4% max), Manganese (0.35% max), Copper (0.25% max).
- Density: 8.89 g/cm³
- Melting Range: 2615–2635°F (1435–1446°C)
- Thermal Conductivity: 60.7 W/m·K at 300 K
- Non-Magnetic: Ideal for electronic and instrumentation applications.
- High-Temperature Strength: Stable up to 1250°F (677°C).
- Excellent Corrosion Resistance: Performs exceptionally in caustic soda, acids, and saltwater environments.
