Technical Information for Waspaloy per AMS 5704
Waspaloy, as specified by AMS 5704, is a nickel-base super alloy with superior high-temperature properties, particularly oxidation resistance. It is available as bars, forgings, or stock for forging, all solution heat treated. Waspaloy is a super alloy with a reputation for superior mechanical properties, making it a reliable material for aerospace propulsion components, gas turbine applications, or wherever extreme temperatures prevail.
Waspaloy derives its high strength through a precipitation-hardening treatment involving aluminum and titanium. Chromium, cobalt, and molybdenum also endow it with superior corrosion and oxidation resistance. It maintains superior structural integrity, as well as creep resistance, within a temperature range of 1200°F/650°C for rotating components, or 1600°F/870°C for applications with lesser demands.
Typical Applications of AMS 5704
Waspaloy per AMS 5704 is extensively used across aerospace, defense, and power generation industries, including:
- Compressor and turbine disks
- Rotor shafts and spacers
- Seals, rings, and casings
- Fasteners and high-temperature hardware
- Missile and airframe assemblies
What is WASPALOY ?
WASPALOY is a nickel-based super alloy with notable properties for its strength at high temperature, combined with oxidation and creep resistance. It is used for the extreme conditions found within aerospace and industrial gas turbines and retains strength and stability up to a temperature of 1200°F (650°C). It is one of the best materials for rotating and supporting structures within gas turbines.
Certified Material for Critical Service
WASPALOY supplied by Fighter Jet Metals is fully certified for critical aerospace and turbine service. Each batch is traceable with Material Test Reports (MTRs) confirming chemical composition, mechanical properties, and heat treatment.
Manufactured in accordance with leading industry specifications such as AMS 5704, AMS 5706, AMS 5707, AMS 5709, and AMS 5544, this certification ensures the alloy meets stringent aerospace quality assurance and performance standards.
WASPALOY is trusted for use in flight-critical rotating parts and high-stress propulsion systems where material integrity and reliability cannot be compromised.
