BMS7-336
BMS7-336 is a Boeing material specification that deals with Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo-0.08Si Titanium alloy in hot isostatic pressed castings. This specification outlines strict limits on chemical composition, casting quality, and mechanical properties, and processing controls, all in an effort to ensure that the material meets Boeing’s stringent requirements.
Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) is an alloy casting process that uses high pressure and temperature simultaneously. This process eliminates porosity in castings, thus improving density, fatigue, and structural integrity. These are all very important characteristics in materials that are used in aircraft, particularly in materials that are subjected to fatigue.
Fighter Jet Metals works with Aerospace OEMs to maintain the BMS7-336 specification for 6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo. If you are currently managing a project that requires BMS7-336 please reach out to us so we can assist.
Applications of BMS7-336 Titanium
Titanium alloys produced to BMS7-336 requirements are typically used in aerospace systems that require high strength and elevated-temperature capability.
Common applications include:
- Gas Turbine Engine Components : structural cast parts used in turbine engine assemblies
- High-Temperature Aerospace Structures : components exposed to sustained thermal and mechanical loads
- Precision Aerospace Castings : HIP-processed titanium parts used in high-reliability aircraft systems
