AMS-QQ-S-763 for Stainless Steel Bars, Wire, Shapes & Forgings
AMS-QQ-S-763, formerly known as QQ-S-763F Notice 1, is a Federal Specification for corrosion-resistant stainless steel bars, wire, shapes, and forgings. It covers both 300-series austenitic and 400-series martensitic and ferritic stainless steels for use in aerospace, military, and industrial engineering.
Overview of AMS-QQ-S-763
The AMS-QQ-S-763 standard set the bar for stainless steel by establishing stringent mechanical, chemical, and surface quality standards for reliable performance in mission-critical applications. Though the spec has been replaced by the SAE International AMS series, the old spec still turns up in legacy military and aerospace drawings.
All of the grades covered under QQ-S-763 are 300 and 400 series Stainless Steels
Depending on the call out of your engineering drawing, you will have to select one of the grades displayed below

What is 301 Stainless steel ?
301 is an austenitic chromium-nickel based stainless steel that is non-magnetic in the annealed condition but becomes magnetic when cold worked. The high strength and corrosion resistance of this grade of stainless steel makes it useful for a variety of applications.
GRADES COVERED UNDER AMS-QQ-S-763
300 SERIES
Austenitic stainless steels offering excellent corrosion resistance and formability.
400 SERIES
Lightly cold-worked for moderate strength with good ductility.
Certified Material for Critical Service
301 stainless steel is supplied as certified material for critical service, complete with mill test reports (MTRs) and traceability documentation. Fighter Jet Metals ensures that all 301 stainless steel products meet AMS, MIL, and NACE standards, guaranteeing reliability, safety, and performance in demanding aerospace, oil & gas, and industrial environments.
