GMS 3105 - Titanium Alloy 6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo-0.08Si Sheet, Strip & Plate
GMS3105 is Gulfstream Aerospace’s material specification for titanium alloy Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo-0.08Si. It includes sheets, strips, and plates in the duplex annealed state, and it has very detailed specifications for chemical composition, melting practices, mechanical properties, and quality.
The specification requires that the alloy be triple vacuum melted, a procedure that significantly enhances purity, homogeneity, and internal integrity. Further, the duplex annealed heat treatment improves the microstructure and properties, providing a consistent combination of strength, ductility, and resistance to fatigue.
Gulfstream Quality Requirements of GMS3105 / GMS 3105
Like other Tier 1 Aerospace Manufacturers, Gulfstream Aerospace has its own set of quality requirements for materials. Fighter Jet Metals will work with you on your next project to ensure that GMS3105 / GMS 3105 is sourced correctly.
What is 6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo Titanium ?
6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo Titanium (also known as 6-2-4-2 Titanium) is an alpha-beta titanium alloy capable of being heat treated to higher strengths in greater section sizes that 6Al-4V. Widely used in forged components, 6-2-4-2 beta forged material has enhanced strength, ductility and a combination of good low-cycle fatigue and fatigue-crack growth resistance. This alloy is used in the intermediate compressor stages of turbine engines for disks and blades, seals and for airframe parts.
