AMS 4931 - 6Al-4V Titanium Alloy Bars, Forgings, and Rings (ELI, Duplex Annealed, Fracture Toughness)
AMS 4931 includes the 6Al-4V Titanium Alloy in the following forms: bars, forgings, flash welded rings, and stock forging or ring material. It is Extra Low Interstitial (ELI) and duplex annealed to provide exceptional fracture toughness with the high strength and resistance to corrosion inherent in the Titanium Alloy.
The Extra Low Interstitial treatment reduces the content of interstitial elements such as oxygen and iron, which improves the ductility and the toughness of the Titanium Alloy. The addition of the Duplex Annealing process provides reliability to the Titanium Alloy, which is essential in the aerospace and military industries.
Mechanical Advantages of AMS 4931 Titanium Alloy
- Superior fracture toughness for demanding structural applications
- High strength-to-weight ratio, lightweight yet strong
- Excellent corrosion resistance, ideal for extreme environments
- Maintains ductility and formability for complex shapes
- Compatible with hot and cold working processes
Applications of AMS 4931 Titanium Alloy
AMS 4931 is commonly used in industries where high performance and reliability are essential:
- Aerospace: Critical structural components, airframe parts, and turbine engine hardware
- Defense: Military aircraft components and specialized defense equipment
- Medical: Surgical tools and high-performance implants (where ELI properties are required)
