BMS 7-380 - 6Al-4V Titanium Alloy Tubing (Boeing)
BMS 7-380 is the Boeing Material Specification for 6Al-4V titanium alloy tubing, used in Boeing aircraft hydraulic system lines, fuel system plumbing, and structural tubing applications.
6Al-4V is the most widely specified titanium alloy in Boeing’s material system. The BMS 7-xxx series covers all standard product forms of 6Al-4V titanium, each qualified to Boeing’s supplier approval, NDT, and mechanical test requirements in addition to the base AMS chemistry and property requirements.
6Al-4V is recommended for use at temperatures from -350° to 750°F (-210° to 400°C). Applications outside this temperature range are possible in certain situations. The alloy is weldable. Complex shapes can be made via hot forming. It machines like an austenitic stainless steel.
