Sheet and plate per GMS 3104 are used in high-strength titanium sheet metalwork on Gulfstream programs where the higher strength of the 6Al-6V-2Sn alloy compared to standard 6Al-4V is necessary to meet structural requirements with minimum weight.
6Al-6V-2Sn titanium alloy offers higher strength than 6Al-4V in the solution treated and aged condition, making it the preferred choice for the most highly stressed aerospace structural applications where standard 6Al-4V STA cannot meet design requirements.
