MMS 1202 - 6Al-6V-2Sn Titanium Alloy Extrusions (Boeing St. Louis, Annealed)
MMS 1202 is the Boeing Material Specification (formerly McDonnell Douglas St. Louis MMS series) for 6Al-6V-2Sn Titanium Alloy extrusions in the annealed condition. The MMS St. Louis series was developed by the McDonnell Douglas St. Louis division (now Boeing Defense, Space & Security in St. Louis, Missouri) to cover material requirements for fighter aircraft programs including the F-15 and F/A-18.
Extrusions per MMS 1202 are used in Boeing defense aircraft programs requiring 6Al-6V-2Sn titanium extrusion sections for primary structural applications where the alloy’s higher strength compared to 6Al-4V provides the required structural margins.
6Al-6V-2Sn titanium alloy offers higher strength than 6Al-4V in the solution treated and aged condition, making it the preferred choice for the most highly stressed aerospace structural applications where standard 6Al-4V STA cannot meet design requirements.
Applications of MMS 1202 6Al-6V-2Sn Titanium
- Boeing Defense Aircraft Structural Extrusions
- F-15 and F/A-18 Structural Applications
- High-Strength Titanium Extrusion Sections
- Military Fighter Structural Hardware
