AMS 4901 - Commercially Pure Titanium Sheet, Strip, and Plate
AMS 4901 is the SAE specification for commercially pure titanium sheet, strip, and plate. This specification covers chemistry, mechanical properties, and test requirements for unalloyed titanium flat products in the annealed condition for aerospace, chemical processing, and industrial applications requiring corrosion resistance and weldability.
Commercially pure titanium per AMS 4901 provides outstanding corrosion resistance combined with good formability. It is fully weldable without loss of corrosion resistance, making it suitable for aerospace honeycomb structures, heat exchanger plates, chemical plant liners, and marine hardware.
6Al-4V is recommended for use at temperatures from -350° to 750°F (-210° to 400°C). Applications outside this temperature range are possible in certain situations. The alloy is weldable. Complex shapes can be made via hot forming. It machines like an austenitic stainless steel.
