AMS 4902 - Commercially Pure Titanium Sheet and Strip
AMS 4902 is the SAE specification for commercially pure titanium sheet and strip. This specification covers the chemistry, mechanical properties, and test requirements for unalloyed titanium flat-rolled products in the annealed condition for applications requiring corrosion resistance, excellent formability, and low-temperature toughness.
Sheet and strip per AMS 4902 is used in aerospace heat shields and firewalls, chemical plant piping and vessel liners, marine hardware, and medical device structures where the corrosion resistance and biocompatibility of commercially pure titanium are required in thin-gauge flat product forms.
6Al-4V is recommended for use at temperatures from -350° to 750°F (-210° to 400°C). Applications outside this temperature range are possible in certain situations. The alloy is weldable. Complex shapes can be made via hot forming. It machines like an austenitic stainless steel.
