AMS 5605 - Nickel 706 Sheet, Strip & Plate
AMS 5605 refers to Nickel 706 (UNS N09706) which is available as sheets, strips, and plates. This alloy is precipitation hardenable with high strength and oxidation resistance. In addition, it shows good machinability. Nickel 706 is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy.
When measured against INCONEL 718, alloy 706 is more easily fabricated, especially when it comes to machinability, while retaining its creep properties and stability at up to 1300°F (704°C). It is because of this reason that AMS 5605 is one important specification found within gas turbines, aircraft parts, and power transmission machinery.
