AMS 5701 - Nickel 706 Bars, Forgings & Rings
AMS 5701 specifies Nickel 706/UNS N09706 utilized in bars, forgings, and rings which are furnished melted by consumable electrode or vacuum induction process and solution heat treated at 1800°F (982°C). This nickel-iron-chromium alloy showing precipitation hardening response was designed to provide high mechanical properties, oxidation resistance, and fabricability for aerospace, turbine, and power generating applications.
Under AMS 5701, Nickel 706 offers high tensile strength, creep resistance, and machinability in one alloy package, making Nickel 706 potentially a cost savings option over INCONEL 718 in many high-performance applications.
