AMS 5606 - Nickel 706 Sheet, Strip & Plate
AMS 5606 specifically describes Nickel 706 (UNS N09706) material in sheet, strip, and plates that were melted by consumable electrode or vacuum induction and solution heat treated at 1750° F (954° C). This precipitation hardenable nickel iron chromium alloy offers high strength, corrosion resistance, and fabricability to withstand high temperatures.
In comparison with Inconel 718 UNS N07718, Nickel 706 in the form of AMS 5606 possesses comparable traits with easier machinability and formability, making it highly desirable in aerospace manufacturing where machinability plays an important factor.
