Technical Information for Waspaloy per AMS 5709
Waspaloy, as specified in AMS 5709, is a nickel-base super alloy which can be age-hardened. It has been developed to provide outstanding strength, oxidation properties, and stability at high temperatures, making it suited for forgings, rings, and stocks for critical rotating parts in aerospace and gas turbines. The objective is to provide reliable performance after long-term exposure at high temperatures.
The AMS 5709 high toughness comes from precipitation hardening and a unique combination of nickel and chromium, cobalt, molybdenum, aluminum, and titanium. This unique formula gives it outstanding corrosion properties, excellent creep properties, and high yield strengths at high temperatures: up to 1200°F (650°C) for critical rotating parts, and up to 1600°F (870°C) for rotating parts with lower requirements.
Typical Applications of AMS 5709
Waspaloy per AMS 5709 is widely used in aerospace and defense industries, including:
- Turbine disks, rings, and shafts
- Compressor and engine casings
- Seals, spacers, and fasteners
- Airframe assemblies and missile components
What is WASPALOY ?
WASPALOY is a nickel-based super alloy with notable properties for its strength at high temperature, combined with oxidation and creep resistance. It is used for the extreme conditions found within aerospace and industrial gas turbines and retains strength and stability up to a temperature of 1200°F (650°C). It is one of the best materials for rotating and supporting structures within gas turbines.
Certified Material for Critical Service
WASPALOY supplied by Fighter Jet Metals is fully certified for critical aerospace and turbine service. Each batch is traceable with Material Test Reports (MTRs) confirming chemical composition, mechanical properties, and heat treatment.
Manufactured in accordance with leading industry specifications such as AMS 5704, AMS 5706, AMS 5707, AMS 5709, and AMS 5544, this certification ensures the alloy meets stringent aerospace quality assurance and performance standards.
WASPALOY is trusted for use in flight-critical rotating parts and high-stress propulsion systems where material integrity and reliability cannot be compromised.
