AMS 4967 - 6Al-4V Titanium Alloy Bars, Wire, Forgings, and Rings (Annealed, Heat Treatable)
AMS 4967 is the aerospace specification for the 6Al-4V Titanium Alloy in bar form, wire, forging stock, flash welded rings, and stock ready for forging or heading. It is supplied in the annealed condition but can be heat-treated to provide improved mechanical properties as needed.
As part of the widely used Titanium Alloy family known as the Ti-6Al-4V series, this specification offers a robust, ductile, resistant-to-corrosion, and lightweight material with the annealed condition offering good machinability and formability, as well as the capacity to be heat-treated to provide improved properties as needed.
Applications of AMS 4967 Titanium Alloy
AMS 4967 is widely used in industries requiring flexibility in processing and high performance:
- Aircraft structural components and fittings
- Turbine engine hardware and fasteners
- Aerospace forgings and flash welded rings
- Marine and industrial components exposed to corrosive environments
- High-performance engineering and mechanical systems
What is 6Al-4V Titanium ?
6Al-4V titanium, also known as Ti-6Al-4V or grade 5 titanium, remains the top titanium alloy in the aerospace industry. This is because it has been recognized for its strength-to-weight properties, corrosion resistance, and reliability in both ambient and elevated temperatures.
