347 Stainless Steel per AMS 5571
AMS 5571 covers 347 stainless steel seamless tubing that has been solution heat treated and is used where there is a need to resist corrosion and heat. It is a chromium-nickel austenitic heat and corrosion-resistant steel that is further strengthened with columbium, niobium, and tantalum to provide excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion, oxidation, and creep under high-temperature conditions.
This specification is used to provide assurance of the tubing’s performance under extreme conditions of temperature and stress.

What is 347 Stainless Steel ?
347 stainless steel is an austenitic stainless steel stabilized by additions of columbium (plus tantalum) and has slightly improved corrosion resistance over type 321 stainless steel in strongly oxidizing environments. It is preferable for aqueous and low-temperature environments due to its good resistance to intergranular attack. Both 347 and 321 offer good resistance to polythionic acid stress corrosion cracking, encountered in oil refineries.
