AMS 5662 - INCONEL 718 Bars, Forgings & Rings
AMS 5662 specifies INCONEL alloy 718 (UNS N07718) in bars, forgings, and rings in a solution-treated condition. This specification describes a corrosion-resistant and heat-resistant nickel-chromium alloy with added properties of niobium and molybdenum, designed to operate in high-pressure, high-temperature environments in aerospace.
However, parts that qualify to AMS 5662 can be subjected to precipitation heat treatment to get the mechanical properties required in AMS 5663, and thus offer strong flexibility in performance.
Material Properties and Characteristics
INCONEL 718 per AMS 5662 delivers:
- High tensile and yield strength up to 1300°F (704°C)
- Excellent oxidation resistance up to 1800°F (982°C)
- Outstanding stress-rupture and creep resistance
- Superb weldability and machinability for aerospace components
These properties make AMS 5662 a standard alloy form for engine shafts, turbine wheels, spacers, bolts, and fasteners operating under extreme c
