AMS 5597 - INCONEL 718 Sheet, Strip & Plate
AMS 5597 lists INCONEL 718 (UNS N07718) in the form of precipitation-hardened sheet, strip and plate. This nickel-chromium alloy, through the addition of niobium, molybdenum, aluminum and titanium, provides particularly high strength, fatigue life, and resistance to a wide range of corrosive substances at elevated high and cryogenic temperatures.
Compared with AMS 5596, which covers the annealed state, AMS 5597 material is provided in the precipitation-hardened condition offering higher strength for use in an engine, turbine, or structural application where durability and thermal stability are imperative.
Applications of INCONEL 718 per AMS 5597
- Jet engine cases and ducts
- Turbine compressor and exhaust components
- High-strength fasteners and airframe hardware
- Cryogenic vessels and rocket motor components
- Heat exchangers and energy sector equipment
