PWA 1065 - Pratt & Whitney Nickel 718 Tubing Specification
PWA 1065 is the Pratt & Whitney Aerospace Material Specification for Nickel 718 (INCONEL 718) tubing. Similar in scope, but with distinctively different requirements as defined herein, to AMS 5589. It ensures that the tubing used in Pratt & Whitney jet engines and propulsion systems demonstrates the highest level of strength, corrosion resistance, and thermal stability.
About PWA 1065
PWA 1065: This standard outlines the requirements for Nickel 718 tubing utilized in demanding, high-stress, high-temperature applications such as parts of aircraft engines. It requires very specific mechanical properties coupled with consistent heat treatment and tight dimensional control to give the alloy the capability to tolerate temperatures up to 1300°F (704°C) without losing its structural integrity.
Key Materiel Features:
- Exceptional tensile and fatigue strength
- Excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance
- Stable creep and rupture resistance at high temperature
- Outstanding formability and weldability
PWA 1065 and Pratt & Whitney LCS Specifications
Laboratory at Control Source (LCS) is a quality classification for Pratt & Whitney’s suppliers to follow when sourcing material. Fighter Jet Metals sources material from LCS approved manufacturers.
